Category: Human Adenovirus Type5 (dE1/E3) | Ad-PGK-RFP
Description:
This recombinant human adenovirus type 5 expresses monomeric red
fluorescent protein (mRFP) under the control of the PGK (phosphoglycerate
kinase) promoter. mRFP is a genetically engineered red fluorescent protein
designed to exist as a monomer, avoiding the dimerization or tetramerization
observed with many early red fluorescent proteins. mRFP is considered an
early-generation monomeric RFP. Newer red fluorescent proteins, such as
mCherry and mScarlet, offer increased brightness, improved photostability, and
faster maturation. The recombinant mRFP adenovirus serves as an ideal control
for other recombinant adenoviral vectors. Because RFP expression is readily
visualized by fluorescence microscopy, this virus can also be used to evaluate
transduction efficiency and to optimize viral infection conditions in specific
cell types. This product is supplied in a ready-to-use format.
