Description
GenJet™ DNA In Vitro Transfection Reagent for MDA-MB-231 Cells is pre-optimized for efficient plasmid DNA delivery into MDA-MB-231 cells. MDA-MB-231 is a human breast adenocarcinoma cell line originally established from the pleural effusion of a 51-year-old female patient with metastatic breast cancer. The cells exhibit an epithelial-like, spindle-shaped morphology and are widely used as an in vitro model of aggressive, highly invasive triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).

MDA-MB-231 cells are characterized by their strong migratory and invasive behavior, high metastatic potential, and capacity for anchorage-independent growth. These properties make them a valuable model for investigating tumor progression, epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), cancer cell invasion, metastasis, and the evaluation of novel therapeutic strategies. Due to their rapid proliferation and unique biological characteristics, optimization of transfection conditions is often required to achieve efficient gene delivery while maintaining cell viability.

The transfection conditions described below have been optimized to maximize plasmid DNA uptake and transgene expression in MDA-MB-231 cells. Under optimized conditions, GenJet™ reagent provides robust transfection efficiency with minimal cytotoxicity. One milliliter of GenJet™ reagent is sufficient for approximately 300 transfections in 24-well plates or 150 transfections in 6-well plates.

Storage Condition
Store at 4 °C. When stored under the recommended conditions, GenJet™ reagent remains stable for at least 24 months.

A representative image demonstrating the transfection efficiency of GenJet™ Transfection Reagent in MDA-MB-231 cells. MDA-MB-231 cells were cultured under ATCC-recommended growth conditions and transfected with the GFP reporter plasmid pEGFP-N3 using GenJet™ reagent. Transfection efficiency was assessed 24 hours post-transfection by evaluating GFP expression using fluorescence microscopy.
