AAV8-WMHBV is a pre-made recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) packaged in serotype 8 (AAV8 capsid with AAV2 ITRs) engineered to carry the complete genome of Woolly Monkey hepatitis B virus (WMHBV). This vector enables efficient delivery and expression of the full-length viral genome in hepatocytes, supporting robust viral replication and antigen production in vitro and in vivo.
AAV8 exhibits strong liver tropism, making it highly suitable for hepatic gene delivery and liver-targeted disease modeling. Upon transduction, the WMHBV genome is maintained episomally and supports the formation of replicative intermediates, enabling researchers to study viral transcription, replication, and host–virus interactions in a physiologically relevant context.
Woolly Monkey HBV is genetically related to human hepatitis B virus but provides a distinct and valuable model system for studying hepadnavirus biology, viral evolution, and antiviral responses. This vector is particularly useful for preclinical research, including evaluation of antiviral therapeutics, immune responses, and HBV pathogenesis in small animal models.
