AAV-Syn-mCherry-P2A-hSNCA (Serotype 9)

Product Category: Pre-made recombinant AAV | AAV-Syn-mCherry-P2A-hSNCA | AAV9-Syn-mCherry-P2A-hSNCA
Description:
AAV9-Syn-mCherry-P2A-hSNCA is a pre-made recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) packaged in serotype 9 (AAV9 capsid with AAV2 ITRs), designed for neuron-specific co-expression of the red fluorescent protein mCherry and human alpha-synuclein (hSNCA). Expression is driven by the human synapsin (Syn) promoter, enabling selective and robust transgene expression in neuronal populations.
The mCherry and hSNCA coding sequences are linked via a self-cleaving P2A peptide, allowing efficient bicistronic expression and near-equimolar production of both proteins from a single transcript. The mCherry reporter enables direct visualization of transduced neurons and facilitates monitoring of transgene expression, distribution, and neuronal morphology.
Human alpha-synuclein, encoded by the SNCA gene, is a key protein implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease and related synucleinopathies. Neuron-specific expression of hSNCA supports precise modeling of alpha-synuclein aggregation, neuronal toxicity, and disease progression.
This vector is well-suited for in vivo and in vitro studies of synucleinopathy mechanisms, including protein aggregation, propagation, and evaluation of therapeutic strategies targeting alpha-synuclein-driven neurodegeneration.
