AAV9-CBh-TAU(P301S)-mCherry is a pre-made recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) packaged in serotype 9 (AAV9 capsid with AAV2 ITRs), designed for expression of human tau protein carrying the pathogenic P301S mutation along with a fluorescent reporter. Expression is driven by the hybrid CBh promoter, enabling strong and stable transgene expression across a wide range of mammalian cell types, including neurons in the central nervous system.

The P301S mutation is a well-established disease-associated variant associated with aggressive tauopathies, including frontotemporal dementia, and is widely used to model tau hyperphosphorylation, aggregation, neurofibrillary tangle formation, and progressive neurodegeneration.

The inclusion of mCherry allows direct visualization of transduced cells and facilitates monitoring of transgene expression, distribution, and neuronal morphology in both in vitro and in vivo applications.

This vector is well-suited for studies of tau pathology, disease progression, and evaluation of therapeutic strategies targeting tau-driven neurodegenerative disorders.
